World’s No1 Test bowler Kagiso Rabada capped an incredible year by winning South Africa‘s Cricketer of the Year award.

It was the second time Rabada was selected for the award; the first being in 2016. The 23-year-old pacer joined legendary names like Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, Makhaya Ntini and AB de Villiers as two-time winners of the award.

It has been an action-packed 12 months for when Rabada not only emerged as a match-winner in all formats but also faced disciplinary hearings.

Rabada took 72 wickets at an average of 19.52 in 12 Tests since July last year.

He missed a Test in England after he was banned for reaching a demerit points threshold. Then in the ill-tempered Test series against Australia earlier this year, Rabada was initially suspended for the two Tests for an apparent collision with Aussie captain Steve Smith but appealed successfully against a verdict.

Rabada was the man of the series, picking up 23 wickets, as South Africa beat Australia 3-1.

In all, Rabada picked up six trophies during the awards night, including Test Cricketer of the Year, ODI Cricketer of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year, Delivery of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year.
