While Virat Kohli’s much awaited County stint with Surrey has met with a premature end, India‘s representation in the shores of England is still ongoing.

Three Indians – Ishant Sharma, Cheteshwar Pujara and Varun Aaron – are currently plying their trade in England’s domestic competitions.

Here, we take a look at how the three players have performed in various competitions for their respective counties so far.

CHETESHWAR PUJARA – YORKSHIRE

The Indian middle-over stalwart is undergoing his second spell in county cricket after joining up with heavyweights Yorkshire. The right-handed batsman did not have the best of times in the first-class format where he managed to score just 100 runs combined in eight innings.

His fortunes have changed drastically since switching over to white-ball cricket. The 30-year-old slammed a ton in Yorkshire’s four-run loss to Worcestershire in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

In three innings so far in the competition, Pujara has scored 256 runs at an average of over 85 runs.

Pujara struggled in red-ball cricket but has shone in white-ball cricket.

ISHANT SHARMA – SUSSEX

While Pujara’s return has been a mixed-bag, Ishant Sharma has been highly impressive in his spell with Sussex. After picking up a five-wicket haul in his County Championship debut, Ishant has continued to catch the eye with some excellent performances.

After claiming 15 wickets in four first-class matches for Sussex, Ishant has translated that excellent form into white-ball cricket.

In the Royal London One-Day Cup, the tall pacer has picked up six wickets in four matches and has established himself as a key member of the Ben- Brown-led county outfit.

Ishant has been knocking over stumps with regularity.

VARUN AARON – LEICESTERSHIRE

While he may be out of the reckoning for the Indian team for the time being, Varun Aaron has been undergoing a maiden stint in England as he looks to reignite his career.

The fast-bowler played three first-class matches for Leicestershire in the County Championship and picked up seven wickets. His best performance came in his side’s three-run win over Glamorgan where he ended up with a six-wicket haul.

In the Royal London One-Day Cup, Aaron was taken for 86 runs in his side’s comprehensive loss to Nottinghamshire but bounced back in style with figures of 4-31 against Derbyshire in his next outing.

Aaron was impressive in his side’s clash with Glamorgan.
