Pakistan will look to stretch their first-inning lead past the 200-run mark when they take the field against England in the third day of the first Test between the two sides at Lord’s.

The Pakistan batsmen added 13 runs more to their overnight score before they were bowled out for 363 runs, an overall first-innings lead of 179 runs. In reply, England got off to a disastrous start in their second innings with opener Alastair Cook dismissed for just one run by pacer Mohammad Abbas. The hosts were given a second jolt when Shadab Khan castled Mark Stoneman for nine runs as England were reduced to 37-2.

Skipper Joe Root waged a lone battle as both David Malan (12) and Jonny Bairstow (0) departed in quick succession. Malan and Bairstow were both dismissed by Mohammad Amir in the same over. Ben Stokes (9) followed soon after as he fell to Shadab Khan before Root became the second English batsmen to be pinned lbw by Mohammas Abbas in the second innings. At the latest, England were on the ropes at 111-6.
