Mitchell Marsh gave another exhibition of his talent with a brilliant batting display in a low-scoring Champions League Twenty20 game at the Chinnaswamy Stadium yesterday.

The Perth Scorchers all-rounder struck a brilliant 63 not out off 38 balls to guide his team to a thrilling three-wicket victory against Lahore Lions.

Chasing 124 in 20 overs, Perth batsmen floundered against the Lahore spinners. They were six down for 40 and a defeat loomed large.

But Marsh checked in and took charge in the company of an enterprising Brad Hogg (28 not out off 19 balls). Together they raised 68 runs in 6.5 overs to turn the tables on Lahore as the Big Bash champions finished a creditable third in Group A.

Marsh, who led the side as regular captain Adam Voges was rested, hit seven fours and three sixes, including two in succession off paceman Wahab Riaz to finish the match.

Veteran Hogg was an able ally slamming two fours and as many maximums.

Lahore, who needed to win big to improve their net run rate and knock out Chennai Super Kings for a semi-final berth, hurt their chances with a shambolic batting display.
