Mohammad Hafeez was recalled to the side after missing out in the series against the World XI as Pakistan announced its 16-man squad for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Hafeez had not been named in the squad for the historic visit of the World XI which the hosts had won 2-1.

Also coming back to the side is pace spearhead Mohammad Amir though his return is subject to fitness clearance.

The pacer has only recovered from a stress-related shin injury which has kept him out of the ongoing ODIs against Sri Lanka.

Medium pacer Sohail Khan who featured against the World XI has missed out this time with Umar Amin and Faheem Ashraf retaining their spots.

Pakistan will play three T20I against the islanders starting with the match on October 26 at Abu Dhabi.

The two sides will proceed to the final T20 clash at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore after Sri Lanka agreed to tour the country following initial hesitation.

Amir’s return is subject to fitness clearance.

Sri Lanka had bore the brunt of a terrorist attack on its team bus during its tour of Pakistan in the same venue in 2009.

Following that incident, international cricket has come to a halt in Pakistan apart from some sporadic games against the likes of Zimbabwe.

During the series against the World XI in September, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) had agreed a deal in principal to hold the final T20I in Lahore.

However, many members of the Sri Lankan team had developed cold feet about the Lahore visit a few day ear earlier and a letter expressing the same signed by 40 contracted players was sent to the board.

After taking a feedback from the ICC and independent security firms, the Lahore visit has now been given the green light with the match scheduled for October 29.
