After Australia’s Glenn Maxwell hilarious imitation of Steve Smith’s batting technique, it is the turn of the skipper to hit back with his own retort.

During some visual works for the development of ‘Ashes Cricket’, a video game scheduled to release later this year, Maxwell had imitated the batting stances of multiple cricketers including his skipper.

In a YouTube video published by cricket.com.au, the maverick Aussie batsman had mimicked Smith’s famous leave during the Test battle with India earlier this year among other shots.

It seems that Smith is not going to let his teammate get away with it though.

The Aussie skipper was over to the Big Ants Studios for his part of the visual work for the development of the game and the makers did not fail to remind the 28-year-old about Maxwell’s hilarious immitation.

And so Smith decided to get one over Maxwell in his own game.

Quite a few will remember Maxwell’s infamous leave during the KFC Big Bash League in 2014. The 28-year-old will never be able live down what happened during a clash between the Melbourne Stars and the Brisbane Heat at the Gabba.

The Melbourne-born batsman had advanced down the pitch to a delivery from Heat’s pacer Ryan Duffield, only to inexplicably just freeze allowing the ball to shatter his exposed stumps.

The infamous leave was widely shared on social media and it was just the perfect retort for Smith to get back at Maxwell.

The baby-faced Australian skipper showed his take on Maxwell’s leave in the YouTube video to even the imitation contest.

A bit of banter between teammates hurts no one and we are sure that the two players, currently in India for the ongoing limited-overs series, must have had a good laugh between themselves about it.

What is no laughing matter though is that the Australian side are in desperate need of a win in the 50-over format. With only one victory in their last 10 ODIs on the road, Smith’s men will feel the pressure when they take on India in the second match of the series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Thursday.

Australia currently trail by 0-1 in the five-match series after suffering a 26-run loss in the first game at Chennai.
