Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar took to social media to send wishes to Sir Donald Bradman on his 109th birth anniversary.

Arguably the greatest batsman of the modern era, Tendulkar, posted a picture of himself with the man who is widely regarded as the greatest batsman of all time.

The picture of the two dates back to 1998, when Tendulkar, along with Aussie spin legend Shane Warne, had been invited by the great man himself to his 90th birthday celebrations at his Kensigton Park abode in Adelaide.

Ever since Tendulkar burst on to the international stage at a tender age of 16, the comparisons with the legendary Aussie great have been unending. The Don himself has said that he saw some similarities between the two’s technique and batting style.

He is said to have remarked to his wife Jessie to keep an eye on the little genius after Tendulkar’s whirlwind 90 against Australia in a losing cause during the 1996 World Cup.

The Don never missed a chance to watch the subcontinent batting genius bat after that innings and his sense of admiration for the Mumbai-born man only continued to grow.

The mutual admiration of each other’s greatness culminated in the aforementioned meeting between the two in Adelaide where Bradman gifted Tendulkar a signed personal bat.

The Australian legend passed away on February 25, 2001 at the age of 92. He had the most remarkable of Test careers in which he scored 5996 runs at an average of 99.94 in 52 Tests for Australia.

The Adelaide man had 29 Test centuries to his credit with a highest score of 334 against England.

Hi incredible average of almost a 100 remains a distant dream for all batsmen in the modern era and is a record which might just stand the test of time.
