ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar will stay on as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council [ICC] after he agreed to defer his resignation “until the ongoing process relating to governance and financial restructuring are completed”.

Just last week, Manohar had sent his resignation letter to ICC CEO David Richardson, citing personal reasons behind his decision to quit.

A revised governance and financial model – which reduces the power held by the BCCI, CA, and ECB – was passed in principle in February, but the final decision will be taken in April for which Manohar will now be present.

“I respect the sentiments expressed by the Directors and the confidence they have reposed in me,” said Manohar in an ICC media release.

“In the light of this, and although my decision to depart due to personal reasons has not changed, I am willing to continue as Chairman till the responsibility as per the resolution is complete.

“I have duty to work with my colleagues to enable a smooth transition and continue our work on the governance of the ICC.”
