India captain Virat Kohli walked off the field after hurting his shoulder as he saved a boundary during the second session on day one of the third Test against Australia in Ranchi.

It was the 40th over of Australia’s first innings and Kohli, fielding at mid-on, sprinted and dived to stop a four from the bat of Peter Handscomb. Soon after, he was seen holding his right shoulder.

Indian physio Patrick Farhart was soon on the field and accompanied the Indian skipper to the pavilion.

In Kohli’s absence, it was vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane who took over the captaincy duties.

Indian fans will be hopeful that the injury to Kohli isn’t serious.
