India and Australia start their much anticipated series with the first Test at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Thursday.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first on what looks like a very dry pitch. In fact, in the pre-match press conference, Australia captain Steve Smith said that he had never seen a wicket like this before.

Both teams have gone with more or less the expected line-ups, with India opting for three specialist spinners while Australia are playing two pacers, two spinners and Mitchell Marsh as the all-rounder.
