Karun Nair became just the second Indian batsman to notch up a triple century in Test cricket when he reached the landmark during the fifth Test against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Monday.

Virender Sehwag, the only Indian batsman to previously have reached the milestone, was one of the first people to take to Twitter to congratulate Nair on his feat.

West Indian Chris Gayle, who has two Test triple centuries to his name and a former team-mate of Nair in the Indian Premier League (IPL), almost sent across a tweet for the 25-year-old.

Karnataka team-mates Robin Uthappa and Vinay Kumar also congratulated Nair, referring to him as β€˜kulla’ (short man) which is his nickname in his state team.

Here are the top tweets of the day.
