There have been questions raised over whether Moeen Ali can be a reliable number four batsman in Test cricket and he answered those doubts with his second hundred of the series against India on Friday.

There was a lot of praise for the 29-year-old on Twitter with former English fast bowler Alex Tudor tweeting that Ali’s ‘haters’ had disappeared from social media.

Joe Root, who scored a fluent 88, was also hailed with former English cricketer and commentator David Lloyd calling him ‘world-class’. On other hand, both Lloyd and Indian commentator Harsha Bhogle noted that Root’s inability to convert 50s into 100s on a regular basis is a concern.

Here, we collect the top tweets of the day.
