Indian Test captain Virat Kohli is having a brilliant series against England, a far cry from his efforts against the same opposition in 2014.

Kohli has 640 runs in four Tests so far, including an outstanding double century on Sunday. In 2014, he managed just 134 runs in five Tests in England at an embarrassing average of 13.40.

England fast bowler James Anderson, who troubled the Delhi batsman in the 2014 series, feels Kohli hasn’t changed much and has been helped by a change in pitch conditions.

“I am not sure if he [Kohli] has changed. I just think any technical deficiencies he has got are not in play out here. The wickets just take that out of the equation. There is not that pace in the wicket to get the nicks, like we did against him in England – with a bit more movement,” said Anderson.

“When that is not there, he is very much suited to playing in these conditions. He is a very good player of spin and if you are not bang on the money and don’t take your chances, he will punish you.”

Anderson, who is England’s all-time leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, hasn’t picked up a single wicket over the last three innings at Mohali and Mumbai, and that is an area of concern for the visitors.
