England captain Alastair Cook became the sixth batsman and the first Englishman to score more than 2000 runs in Test cricket against India.

Cook achieved this landmark in the fourth Test against India at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. He was just 19 shy of the mark when he began the innings and proceeded to reach the milestone on the last delivery of the 11th over in England’s first innings.

The 31-year-old was eventually dismissed for 46 after being stumped while uncharacteristically coming down the pitch to left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja.

Cook currently has 2027 runs in Test cricket against India, at an average of 51.97 with six centuries to boast. He was also named the Man of the Series during England’s historic Test series win in India in 2012.

India are the second international team, after Australia, to have conceded 2000+ runs against Cook. The Gloucester-born batsman has 2117 Test runs to his name against England’s Ashes rivals, but averages below 40 against them.

Here, we look at the list of batsmen who have scored 2000+ Test runs against India.
