Trailing by 56 runs with six wickets in hand in the second innings at the start of play on Tuesday, England will need a big performance if they have to get anything out of the third Test against India at Mohali.

The visitors seemed to have had the upper hand when they had reduced India to 204/6 on day two, but half-centuries from Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja and Jayant Yadav saw the hosts get a sizeable first innings lead.
