LIVE: Ball-by-ball scorecard and commentary of India vs England – Third Test, day one

With India winning the second Test at Visakhapatnam and taking a 1-0 lead in the five-Test series, England have a tough task on their hands if they have to get anything out of this series.

The third Test at Mohali should again be supportive to the spin bowlers, but with England having won the toss and electing to bat first, they might have negated some portion of that disadvantage. They will need a big batting effort in the first innings to put the hosts under pressure.

Interestingly, India have not lost a Test at Mohali for 22 years. When they last played a Test here, which came against South Africa in 2015, their spinners Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Amit Mishra caused havoc – picking up 19 out of the 20 South African wickets to fall.
