Alastair Cook’s wicket in the final over of day four has weakened England’s chances in the second Test of the five-match series at Vizag. Cook, along with 19-year old Haseeb Hameed, batted out 50.2 overs for a 75-run opening stand on a pitch where batting is not easy.
Cook was dismissed for 54, getting to his 53rd century in 172 balls – the slowest he has ever been to get to the landmark in his Test career. Hameed, on the other hand, scored 25 from 144 deliveries.
England ended the day on 87/2, still 318 runs adrift of the target set by India, who were bowled out for 204 in their second innings in the morning session on Sunday.
Skipper Virat Kohli top scored for the hosts with 81, while Stuart Broad and Adil Rashid picked up four wickets a piece.

In the circumstances - 19 years old, India away, 4th day, 400 down - that is one of the best test knocks of 25 I've ever seen #INDvENG

That wicket of Cook will change the way both teams look at the match situation. But he has shown it is possible to stay in.

More blocks than Lego, just before the Christmas rush.
