Despite a resolute tenth wicket partnership between Dhawal Kulkarni and Umesh Yadav, New Zealand defeated India by 19 runs to level the series 2-2 in the fourth ODI at Ranchi.

Earlier, Kane Williamson won the toss for the first time on this tour and chose to bat first. The Kiwis managed 260/7 in their 50 overs, with Martin Guptill top scoring with 72.

India, in their chase, lost Rohit Sharma early but looked set to be on their way to victory with Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane adding 79 for the second wicket. Kohli’s dismissal, for 45, turned out be the turning point of the match as India never recovered after that.

At 207/9, it looked like a lost cause for the Indians, but Kulkarni and Yadav gave New Zealand a scare at the end. The duo’s 34-run stand, though, wasn’t enough as the series remains alive ahead of the final ODI at Vizag on Saturday.

Here, we look at the top tweets from the match.
