Despite setting a total of 252 and smothering India 120 for 8, Sri Lanka were credited when match referee Clive Lloyd decided to abandon the match due to rioting by spectators.

Members in the crowd began to set fire to parts of the stands and threw items at the Sri Lankan fielders, taking out their frustration for India’s poor performance.

Sri Lanka, however, deserved the win for their play, which included Aravinda de Silva knocking 66 runs of 47 balls.
