Following a report from a Pakistan security delegation the PCB have submitted a request to the ICC, asking the venue of their World T20 match against India to be moved to a different venue.

Currently the match is scheduled to take place in Dharamsala on March 19 but due to political tensions in the area the three-man security panel advised that the players may be in danger.

India v Pakistan is one of the most high-profile and bad-tempered sporting rivalries in the world and replacement venues in Kolkata, Bangalore or Mohali were allegedly suggested.

ICC World T20 2016 tournament director MV Sridhar, who is also the general manager at the BCCI, later insisted that the match would go on as scheduled with a detailed briefing being provided to the Pakistan security team.

Sridhar attended a meeting alongside IPL anti-corruption and security unit head Neeraj Kumar as well as representatives from the Himachal Pradesh government in order to resolve the matter.

“The match [between India and Pakistan is on,” Sridhar told media. “The state and central governments are on board and all security arrangements have been made.”
