Big wicket: Ben Stokes waits for the umpire’s finger as Virat Kohli departs.

The star with the ball on the final day was Ben Stokes who picked up the crucial wickets of Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami and the last man to fall, Hardik Pandya.

It evoked memories of Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff’s heroics at the same ground in 2005.

Alisson kept a clean sheet for Liverpool in his first match

Alisson Becker made a smooth start to his Liverpool career with a clean sheet in a 5-0 pre-season friendly win over Napoli in Dublin.

The £65million Brazil goalkeeper played the full 90 minutes with no mishaps, as James Milner, Georginio Wijnaldum, Mohamed Salah, Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno were all on target for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Kohlit notched up scores of 149 and 51 at Edgbaston.

 

Indian captain Virat Kohli may have been deeply disappointed by the result of the First Test against England but he may have taken some consolation in the fact he has overtaken Steve Smith to be the No1 test batsmen in the world on the ICC rankings.

Kumar Sangakkara also believes Kohli can become India’s greatest batsman of all time but former England captain Nasser Hussian feels he must take some of the blame for the Edgbaston loss.
