England captain Joe Root said his team is taking the two-Test series against Pakistan as a “completely new opportunity” and added his players are not carrying any scars from the Ashes defeat.

England lost the urn 4-0 during a tough winter in Australia early this year but Root said the team is ready for a fresh start as they gear up for the first Test against Pakistan on Thursday.

“You learn from you experiences and take in everything you experienced over the course of a difficult winter. Not get too hung up on it,” Root said.
