Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal expressed anguish at his continued omission from the team despite an excellent season.

The 36-year-old stated the team is being selected by captain Sarfraz Ahmed and coach Mickey Arthur and it is because of their preferences that he is not getting an opportunity.

“The coach and captain are responsible for selecting a team as they get what they ask for. I didn’t hear any statement from the selectors, but statements have come from coach and captain,” Akmal told ARY Sports channel.

Kamran went one step further and wondered if he needs to hit himself with a bat or burn his kit to attract the attention of national selectors.

“Should I hit myself with a bat or burn my kit? That’s what is left for me to do. Or should I do something else to get the PCB’s attention?” he added.

Pakistan coach Arthur had earlier said Kamran was not a part of his team’s plans as he is trying to build a team around young players.

Kamran started the year with a double century in List ‘A’ cricket in domestic cricket. He then starred with the bat for Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL, finishing as the second highest run-scorer in the tournament with 425 runs from 13 matches.

During April-May, he hit two List ‘A’ centuries in three matches. But it looks like the door has been shut on Kamran’s international career.
