Windfall for Pakistan players as PCB raises match fees and monthly remuneration

Pakistan Cricket Board raised match fees and monthly remuneration of all centrally contracted players across categories after unveiling a new list on Monday.

The PCB, after consultation with captain Sarfraz Ahmed and Shoaib Malik, reached a new three-year ‘Financial Remuneration Agreement’ with players.

According to a PCB press release: “In the new central contracts, PCB has raised the monthly remuneration for each of its categories ranging between 25-30 per cent, and has also increased its players match fees by 20 per cent across categories. An agreed percentage increase will also be given to the players in years two and three of the new agreement.”

Also, a new ‘E’ category has been added to the list to recognise performers on the domestic circuit.

According to Samaa TV, players in Category A will be paid around rupees 800,000 (Dh24,000) per month while those in Category B will take home half a million rupees a month with Category C players getting rupees 350,000 a month. The monthly package of Category D players is reported to be rupees 200,000 and Category E cricketers are expected to get 100,000.

Category A: Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, Sarfraz Ahmed, Yasir Shah, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Amir

Category B: Faheem Ashraf, Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Asad Shafiq, Mohammad Hafeez, Hasan Ali

Category C: Shan Masood, Haris Sohail, Wahab Riaz, Imam-ul-Haq, Usman Shinwari, Mohammad Nawaz, Imad Wasim, Junaid Khan, Mohammad Abbas

Category D: Rumman Raees, Hussain Talat, Asif Ali, Usman Salahuddin, Rahat Ali

Category E: Bilal Asif, Saad Ali, Mir Hamza, Umaid Asif, Sahibzada Farhan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan
