Pakistan‘s left-arm fast bowler Mohammad Irfan will replace fellow pacer Junaid Khan in the Barbados Tridents side for the upcoming Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

Irfan will feature in the tournament which runs from August 8 to September 16 after Junaid became unavailable.

At 36 years of age, Irfan is closer to the twilight of his career but the experience he brings to the tale is of great value. He recently featured in the Global T20 Canada tournament for Edmonton Royals.

“It is a disappointment not to have Junaid available but the experience of another left-arm quick like Mohammad Irfan will be an asset to the our campaign,” Tridents head coach Robin Singh said. “He is no stranger to international cricket and this know-how, coupled with his unique ability with the ball, means he will be a key part of the Tridents attack and a handful for opposing batsmen.”

Tridents open their season against Guyana Amazon Warriors on August 12 in Providence.
