Imam-ul-Haq’s action-packed Test debut for Pakistan against Ireland

Pakistan‘s Test debutant Imam-ul-Haq had quite the introduction to Test cricket on what turned out to be the opening day for Ireland’s inaugural Test in Dublin.

Made to wait for a day for his Pakistan Test debut, Imam was in the thick of things from the very first ball of the match when he collided with Ireland wicketkeeper Niall O’Brian and fielder Tyrone Kane after Azhar Ali went for a quick single.

Imam went down in heap and was attended to by team physio.

It could have been worse for Imam as he could have been run out on his debut without having  faced a ball.

Later, Ireland took two wickets off two balls at Malahide to gain the upper hand.

Boyd Rankin, who had previously taken one wicket in a lone Test appearance for England, got Ali out for four after the Pakistan opener edged to Ireland captain William Porterfield at second slip.

The next ball, Imam-ul-Haq was out leg-before for seven to Tim Murtagh.

It was the second major running-between-the-wicket incident for Pakistan on this tour.

Earlier, in their tour game against Northamptonshire, Imam and Ali had collided mid pitch while going for single.
