Pakistan pace sensation Mohammad Amir has been rocking it up for Essex in the County Championship’s Division One of late.

Earlier this month, the Pakistan pace-spearhead destroyed Yorkshire, claiming 10 wickets, as Essex romped home to a famous victory within two days at Scarborough.

However, the 25-year-old’s stint with the county outfit was cut short when the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recalled 13 players plying their trade in England and the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) after revoking their No-Objection Certificates (NOC).

The pacer returned home to Pakistan on Saturday to comply with the PCB’s request.

The PCB’s move came about after the series between Pakistan and the ICC World XI was pushed forward to a window between September 10-16.

The players have been asked to report to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore on August 22 to undergo a series of fitness tests for the upcoming World XI series and the tour to the UAE to take on Sri Lanka later in September.

With reports that Amir’s Essex stint was to be cut short prematurely, there is however some good news for Essex supporters after the PCB granted the left-arm seamer permission to return to England to take part in their crunch game against Somerset on August 28.

Amir was in devastating form against Yorkshire earlier this month.

Essex, who are currently sitting on top of Division One with a 41-point lead over second-placed Lancashire, are chasing their first County Championship title in 25 years.

As such, Amir’s availability for the Somerset clash should provide a huge boost to the county outfit.

The pacer is expected to return to England on August 26 and will fly back to Pakistan after the Somerset clash.
