The tourists began day one in fine form, reducing West Indies to 71-5 to take total control early on.

However, a lower middle-order fightback led by Roston Chase (63) and Shane Dowrich (56) saw the pair put on 118 for the sixth wicket.

And although they both fell in quick succession, Jason Holder (30*) and Devendra Bishoo (23*) led the hosts to 244-7 at the close of play and will pick up the charge once again on day two as they aim to steer West Indies towards a competitive first innings total.
