India declared their first innings at a mammoth 622-7 in the final Test against Australia at Sydney.

Cheteshwar Pujara scored a sublime century on the first day of the New Year’s Test and was unlucky to miss out on a double ton after being dismissed for 193 by Nathan Lyon on day two.

Rishabh Pant took command of the innings post Pujara’s departure with the youngster becoming the first Indian wicketkeeper in history to register a Test ton in Australia.

Pant remained unbeaten on 159 and shared a 204-run stand with Ravindra Jadeja (81) before India declared their first innings with an hour of play left in the day.

Australia’s openers Usman Khawaja and Marcus Harris survived a testy spell of 10 overs with the hosts ending day two at 24-0 in their first innings.
