India beat the West Indies by 10 wickets to win the second and final Test inside three days and sweep the series in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The hosts chased down their 72-run target in 16.1 overs. Prithvi Shaw, on 33, and KL Rahul, also on 33, remained unbeaten in an extended final session.

Earlier fast bowler Umesh Yadav, who was named man of the match, claimed a match haul of 10 wickets to help skittle out the West Indies for 127 in their second innings, picking up 4-46 in the second innings to become just the third Indian pacer to take 10 wickets at haul.

The day started with India 308-4 in their first innings, but an inspired spell of bowling from West Indies captain Jason Holder, who finished with 5-56, saw the hosts bowled out for 367 at lunch, a lead of just 56.

However, Yadav and India’s spinners ripped through the visitors’ top order, taking six wickets in the middle session for just 76 runs to set up another easy victory.

After bowling the West Indies out for 127 in the post-tea session, India made light work of a small chase, with the two openers cruising to victory.

Fittingly, 18-year-old Shaw, who hit a stunning debut century in the first Test and added a fifty in the first innings of this match, hit the winning runs. He finished with 237 runs for the series, and was duly named man of the series.

It was a record-equalling 10th straight series win at home for India, who recorded their first-ever ten-wicket win over the West Indies.
