What’s on the menu? That’s a very important question for most people and even more so for an international team during a match.

Sporting fans seldom get to know what their favourite players eat on a daily basis, unless the player posts something on Instagram, and that bit of information dries up further during match days. So what do top athletes eat during a game?

Well, the Indian cricket board has given cricket fans a snapshot of the lunch menu for the first three days of the Lord’s Test against England. And it makes for interesting reading as we not only get to know what the players like to eat, but also what international athletes are allowed to consume.

On day one of the Test, the team’s lunch menu included items like wild mushroom, chestnut and thyme soup, roasted stone bass, chicken tikka curry, prawns, basmati rice and green salad among a long list of items with Indian flavours, plus an assortment of desserts.

On the second day of the Test, the menu included grilled sirloin, lamb curry, sauteed courgettes, Caesar salad accompanied by pudding, fruits and ice cream to finish things off. Delicious.

On the third day of the Test, the Indians got to choose from grilled chicken, seared halibut, braised beef pasta, naan, smoked chicken and avocado salad plus apple, raspberry and almond crumble in custard for something sweet.
