India batsman Shikhar Dhawan is well known for his attacking style of cricket, array of tattoos, impressive beard and even the trademark ‘thigh five’ celebration.

But did you know the left-handed batsman is a fairly accomplished flautist?

Dhawan posted a video on Instagram with Giridhar Udupa –  percussionist and a leading exponent of the traditional instrument ‘ghatam’ – playing the flute with amazing proficiency.

“Amazing start to the week. Learning one step at a time. Patience and practice are the key. With my friend Udupa bhai here who is a great ghatam player. Hope everyone has a great week,” Dhawan said in his post.

In an earlier post, Dhawan revealed he had been taking flute classes for three years. “For the last three years I have been learning the flute which is my favourite instrument. I have had the privilege of taking lessons with my Guru Venugopal Ji. This is to demonstrate that at any age one can pursue their passion,” Dhawan had posted
