India star batsman Virat Kohli lauds Roger Federer’s longevity

India captain Virat Kohli has lauded the way Roger Federer has extended his career, winning Grand Slams at the age of 36 while ensuring he spends enough time with family and enjoying his personal life.
Kohli is currently on a break from cricket, missing from the ongoing T20 series in Sri Lanka as his workload came into focus. The India skipper is the team’s premier batsman and plays all formats, which combined with his tremendous fitness regimen, has started to put undue strain on his body.
During a promotional event in Mumbai, Kohli admitted he needs to be careful about how he manages his workload.“Physically, I had a few niggles, I am just getting over those. The workload has started to disagree with me a little bit. I have to be very careful about how I go forward with my body, my mind, my cricket,” Kohli said.Kohli admires the way Federer has his priorities in order, which has allowed the Swiss great to continue his winning ways at the highest level. Federer took a break from the clay season in 2017 and has since added the Wimbledon and Australian Open titles to his trophy cabinet.
“When he plays, it’s so beautiful,” Kohli, 29, said. “He has a family now, priorities set, he takes time out of the game without worrying about opinions and criticism of people and then he comes in and wins Grand Slams.“At 36, he is defying all logic and that’s something I totally love. I hate following the norm and he is someone who is breaking barriers on a daily basis and I have huge respect for him.”
