Anil Kumble posted a statement on social media following his decision to resign as India’s head coach.

In his statement, Kumble mentioned that he was informed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday about captain Virat Kohli’s reservations about him continuing as coach.

Kumble claims in his statement that despite the BCCI’s attempts to resolve the issue, the partnership between him and the Indian skipper was “untenable”.

Kumble’s tenure as coach saw the Indian team win 12 out of 17 Tests and are currently ranked number one in the format.
