Former Australia leg-spinner Shane Warne has backed ex-India captain MS Dhoni after the latter’s poor run of form in the ongoing Indian Premier League [IPL].

In the 2017 edition of the league, Dhoni has managed just 61 from five matches at an average of 15.25 and a lowly strike-rate of 87.14.

As a result, the 35-year-old has come under some criticism, but Warne feels that Dhoni has nothing to prove to anyone.

The legendary leggie wrote his defence of Dhoni in the following message posted to his Facebook page:

Dhoni retired from Test cricket in December 2014 but remains an active member of India’s limited-overs teams. Earlier this year, he resigned as India’s captain in ODIs and T20Is, passing the baton to Virat Kohli.

The Ranchi-born cricketer will hope to be back at his best when the Rising Pune Supergiant host defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in Pune on Saturday.
