MS Dhoni’s 62-ball 70 wasn’t enough as his team Jharkhand lost to Bengal by 41 runs in the semi-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, New Delhi on Saturday.

The former India captain slammed four sixes during his knock, but his dismissal in the 44th over of the chase triggered a batting collapse from Jharkhand who lost their last six wickets for just 38 runs.

Left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha starred with the ball for Bengal, picking up five wickets – including the important scalp of Dhoni.

Earlier, after being put into bat, Bengal openers Shreevats Goswani and Abhimanyu Eswaran both notched up centuries as they put on a 198-run partnership for the first wicket.

Bengal skipper Manoj Tiwary then scored an unbeaten 75 from just 49 deliveries to push Bengal’s total to 329/4 in their 50 overs.

Bengal will now meet Tamil Nadu in the final of the competition.

Tamil Nadu defeated Baroda by six wickets in the other semi-final encounter on Thursday.
