India lost their last seven wickets for just 11 runs in the first innings of the first Test against Australia at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Friday.

And 11 runs is the least number of runs that India has lost seven wickets for in their Test history.

India were eventually bowled out for 105, conceding a 155-run first innings lead to Australia. Steve O’Keefe was the star of the show for the visitors, picking up career-best bowling figures of 6-35.

KL Rahul notched up a half-century for the hosts, but no other Indian batsman scored more 13. Their woes were summed by in-form captain Virat Kohli being dismissed for a duck.

India’s previous worst seven-wicket batting collapse came against New Zealand when they lost seven wickets for 18 runs back in February 1990.
