Former Indian captain Rahul Dravid has received many accolades over the years and now, he will be awarded with an honorary doctorate by Bangalore University on Friday.

Dravid will receive this honour for his contribution to sports as part of the 52nd annual convocation of the university.

In 2014, Dravid received a honorary doctorate from another university in Karnataka – Gulbarga University.

Although born in Indore, the 44-year-old grew up in Bengaluru and represented Karnataka in the Ranji Trophy with great distinction.

Dravid’s international career lasted over 15 years and with over 10,000 runs to his name in both Test and ODI cricket, he is considered one of the greatest Indian cricketers of all time.

Dravid retired from Test cricket in 2012 and after an initial spell as a commentator, he has worked with the India A and India Under-19 teams as coach. He has also mentored the Rajasthan Royals and the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
