Indian fast bowler S. Sreesanth has been denied permission to play league cricket in Scotland by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Sreesanth is serving a life ban which was imposed by the BCCI in the aftermath of the IPL spot-fixing scandal in 2013. His then teammates at Rajasthan Royals, Ankit Chavan and Ajit Chandila, were also given life bans.

The 33-year-old was hopeful of turning out for Glenrothes CC, but he told ESPNCricinfo that he hasn’t received a no-objection certificate from the Indian cricket board: “I don’t know… I still haven’t got any letter from BCCI.”

Although the Kerala pacer was cleared of spot-fixing charges in 2015 by a Delhi trial court due to insufficient evidence, the BCCI found him guilty when it came to their own investigation.

Sreesanth represented India in 27 Tests, 53 ODIs and 10 T20Is. He was also part of India’s victorious teams at the 2007 ICC World T20 and the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup.
