According to news agency IANS, Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan visited Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals after landing in Kolkata on Friday.

It is unknown if the 31-year-old’s visit was because of an injury or if it was just a routine check up.

Dhawan hasn’t been in the best of forms recently, scoring just one and 11 in the first two ODIs against England.

“We cannot confirm the extent of his injury or whether it is just a routine check up right now. But he was here,” a hospital official is said to have told IANS.

The Indian team are in Kolkata for the third and final ODI of their series against England which is scheduled for Sunday.

Dhawan’s place in the Indian team is under threat as Ajinkya Rahane is in the squad as the back-up opener and there’s the injured Rohit Sharma who will definitely walk back into the XI when fit.

With the left-hander not finding a place in the T20I squad, if he plays in the Kolkata ODI, it could be his last chance to impress the selectors before the ICC Champions Trophy.
