Pitch invader rushes to touch MS Dhoni’s feet in final match as India captain

It’s common knowledge that cricket is treated like a religion in India.

We got to see a prime example of that when a fan came running onto the field to touch the feet of former India captain MS Dhoni during the practice match between India A and England at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

The fan respected the umpire’s request to not run onto the pitch before being taken away by security. While it was a moment most fans in the stadium and watching on TV in India could relate to, there will be question marks raised about the BCCI’s security arrangements for the game.

Dhoni, who last week announced his resignation as captain of India’s limited overs teams, was given a huge reception when he came out to bat on Tuesday.

The Jharkhand wicket-keeper delighted the crowd with an unbeaten 68 from just 40 deliveries.
