Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly feels Virat Kohli is twice as aggressive as he was

Since Virat Kohli took over as the captain of the Indian Test team, there has been a lot of talk about the resemblance between him and former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly.

The comparisons have mostly been put down to their aggressive attitude – playing the game with their hearts on their sleeves – that is common between the two. Captains in between – Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and MS Dhoni – were relatively calmer characters.

Speaking at the launch of Sourav Ganguly Foundation and Cricket School in Kolkata on Wednesday, Ganguly mentioned that Kohli is twice as aggressive as he was.

“His aggression is two-times more than mine,” said Ganguly.

Ganguly is considered as one of India’s greatest captains, having rebuilt the Indian team after a match-fixing scandal that had threatened to destroy the game in the country. He also led India to famous away Test wins at Leeds and Adelaide.

Kohli, on the other hand, has taken to his reign as skipper in fine style – leading India to the top of the ICC Test rankings. Under his captaincy, the Indian team are currently on an unbeaten run that has lasted for 17 Test matches.
