Indian cricket great Anil Kumble, who celebrates his 46th birthday on Monday, was greeted with wishes from various former and current cricketers on social media website Twitter.

The Karnataka leg-spinner is considered one of the finest bowlers to have graced the game. In 132 Test matches, he took 619 wickets (third highest of all time) at an average of 29.65. He also took 337 ODI wickets during his career.

Kumble’s career as coach has gotten off to a good start – especially in Test cricket. Under his mentorship, India beat the West Indies 2-0 away from home, and then whitewashed New Zealand 3-0 at home to become the number one Test team in the world.
