Harbhajan Singh and Ravichandran Ashwin clear the air over apparent Twitter ‘feud’

The pair cleared the air over their supposed ‘differences’ in the wake of some recent tweets from Harbhajan.

During the third Test between India and New Zealand last week at Indore, Harbhajan felt that the match would be finished within three days due to the nature of the pitch.

The Punjab bowler was then told by some Twitter users that he had also felt the benefit of similar pitches at home during his career.

Harbhajan shot back by stating that there were few instances when he was playing and claimed that he and Anil Kumble and him would have got many more Test wickets if they had the benefit of playing on such pitches.

Many observers thought it was a dig at Ravichandran Ashwin, the premier spin bowler of the Indian Test team currently, who has 220 wickets to his name in just 39 Tests – with seven Man of the Series awards in Test cricket.

Ashwin took to Twitter on Monday morning to mention that there was no rivalry between Harbhajan and him, and suggested reports of a feud were  ‘unhealthy’. The Tamil Nadu spinner also said that he took to off-spin only after watching Harbhajan’s heroics in the 2001 Test series between India and Australia.

Harbhajan quoted Ashwin’s tweet and mentioned that his earlier tweets were ‘misconstrued’ and there is nothing between the two.
