The Indian cricket team led by Virat Kohli is currently playing their first warm-up game against the West Indies Cricket Board President’s XI at Basseterre, Saint Kitts.

Five out of the Indian squad of 17 – including the likes of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Murali Vijay – have been rested and the West Indies Cricket Board President’s XI side boasts of some of the host nation’s Test hopefuls.

Day 1 saw the Indians put up 258 runs on the board in 93 overs thanks to well made fifties from Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Lokesh Rahul. It was on the back of the latter two’s 93-run opening stand, that the Indian middle-order chipped in with valuable runs after Kohli decided to bat at winning the toss.

Although Kohli and his deputy Ajinkya Rahane couldn’t contribute meaningfully to the team’s total, Cheteshwar Pujara and Wriddhiman Saha seemed to be in good touch.

Of the eight Indian batsmen who got a hit in the middle, only three – Kohli, Rahane and Saha – were dismissed by the West Indian bowlers, with the rest having retired out.

Left-arm orthodox bowler, Jomel Warrican was the pick of the Board President’s XI bowlers and accounted for the Indian captain and vice-captain’s wickets.

India are likely to give their bowlers a run on Day 2 and as a result might declare on their overnight score. WATCH the live stream of the match here, courtesy the official feed provided by the WICB.
