Team India will tour the Caribbean for a four-match Test series in July and August, in a move that marks the resumption of cricketing ties between the two nations.

Things had gone downhill after the visiting West Indies side had pulled out midway through their 2014 tour of India over a pay dispute with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).

In response, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) snapped all future FTP commitments with the WICB and slapped a damages bill of $42 million on the cash crunched board.

“BCCI is happy to resume their bilateral ties with WICB,” BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur said in a statement, putting all doubts regarding the tour to rest.

While the final dates and venues are yet to be decided, the WICB has thanked the BCCI for its step forward. “We are extremely delighted that concerns which arose due to the incomplete tour have been addressed and would like to thank BCCI for reviving our ties,” WICB president Dave Cameron said in a statement.

India’s last tour to the West Indies happened in 2011 and was the team’s first assignment after the World Cup triumph.
