England head into their final World Cup group game against New Zealand on Wednesday knowing victory would secure a semi-final place.

Eoin Morgan’s side were given a boost with the news New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson will miss the crucial clash with a hamstring injury.

Ferguson has been one of the stars of the tournament for the Kiwis, taking more wickets than anyone other that Australia’s Mitchell Starc with 17.

If England beat the Black Caps at Chester-le-Street, Morgan’s men will advance regardless of results elsewhere affecting Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
