Jofra Archer’s late inclusion in the 2019 ICC World Cup squad has England fans already excited but the Barbados-born pacer feels they are yet to see his very best.

Archer qualified to play for England as late as March this year and had played only three ODIs before he was included in the final 15-man squad for the World Cup.

The 24-year-old has picked up three wickets in as many ODI appearances for England so far and believes that his best is yet to come.

“There’s always more to come,” Archer told the BBC.

“I strive to keep getting better, personally, and the team will get better as well.”

Archer made waves in T20 franchise leagues around the globe before he was fast-tracked into the England setup by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

Archer has added a new dimension to England’s pace attack.

The express pacer turned heads with his displays in the Big Bash League (BBL) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) before earning an England call-up and believes his experience of playing in the T20 leagues has made his transition to international cricket much easier.

“International cricket doesn’t feel much different,” he stated.

“My role hasn’t changed whatever team I’ve gone into, so I’ve been lucky.

“It doesn’t feel like a big transition. I’ve been put in pressure situations a few times playing out in India, so I think I know what to look forward to if it happens.”

Archer is bound to play a major role for hosts and favourites England when they open their 2019 ICC World Cup campaign on Thursday against South Africa at the Oval, London.
