Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar steered Bangladesh to a comfortable series-clinching eight-wicket victory over West Indies in the third ODI in Sylhet.

Opener Tamim made an unbeaten 81 while Sarkar contributed 80 as the Tigers reached their target of 199 with 69 balls to spare to take the ODI series 2-1.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz had earlier taken 4-29, ripping through the Windies top order, as the tourists were restricted to 198-9, despite an unbeaten 108 from Shai Hope.

Only three other players reached double figures for West Indies in a miserable batting display, with Marlon Samuels the next highest scorer with just 19.

Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza, who took two wickets, praised his bowlers for restricting the Windies batting.

“It was a good match. Hope played an excellent innings,” Mashrafe said. “Our bowlers have been very good. Spinners have been tight and pacers also stuck to the plans.”

Centurion Hope – who was the only Windies batsman to score more than 20 on Friday – was named player of the series after smashing an unbeaten 146 in the second game.

“Still a bit dizzy to be honest, but I’ve hung in there. Obviously wanted my team to get over the line, but very unfortunate for the guys to not take it till the end. Hopefully we will learn from our mistakes,” said Hope.
