Australia’s superstitious coach Justin Langer got dressing rooms swapped for Perth Test

Australia coach Justin Langer reportedly arranged for the dressing rooms for the visiting and home teams to be switched for the second Test between Australia and India.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Langer made the two teams ‘swap’ change rooms at the new Optus Stadium so that the hosts get to be in the same rooms used by the West Coast Eagles – the AFL team that Langer supports and is also a board member of.

During the previous ODI against South Africa at the venue, the Australians were based in the other change room, which upset Langer. The Proteas won the match by six wickets last month.

“Maybe he’s superstitious?” Langer’s former Australia team-mate and fellow Western Australian Michael Hussey told news.com.au.

“But it doesn’t really bother me at all. They go in so many different change rooms around the world. I’m sure they’re state of the art and amazing change rooms whichever one they choose.”
